Why do we constantly say, “out loud”, but write “aloud”? So, what I was thinking in my head, I have said out loud. Now, you can read it silently or aloud. I am taking a brief intermission in my usual blog directions to insert one of my random pet peeves.
I totally respect the right of
all people’s spirituality, faith, religion and beliefs.
With that said, there is one
religion that I cannot understand why Christians do not belong. That is,
Judaism. Jewish people are sons of Abraham, Christians are also sons of
Abraham. Christians believe in Christ. Christ was a Jew. Who told us to go and
develop Christianity?
I respect a lot of the Jewish
doctrines and practices. What days are set aside to remind us of the common
practices Christians share? Church, bible study, revivals (at various
churches), Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas and especially Easter do not
represent all Christians because these days are not celebrated the same
way.
Jews are basically one race, with
one understanding. They aren’t Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Pentecost,
Apostolic, or any of the other denominations of Christianity. They aren't
Jehovah Witnesses, Buddhists or heaven forbid the ambiguous agnostics (there
was a sloppy pun in there somewhere). They are Jewish people who practice
Judaism, AND you can be born a Jew or adopt Judaism as your preferred faith. It
is for reasons that escape me also an ethnicity!
I ask this question of friends
and family from time to time and always receive the same answer. Why are
Christians not Jewish? The answer is usually, "Jewish people do not
believe in Christ". I correct them saying that they do not believe Christ
is the Savior. However, many races of people have overthrown or murdered their
own ruler or leader. It
does not stop them from being White, Black, Muslim or whoever. One does not
simply change their race, religion ethnicity when their selected leader is
dethroned or assassinated. Christians, believing in Jesus Christ should follow
the practices of the Jewish faith. And for the record, Jewish people are
Africans. There is no continent, locale or even state named Jewish. So, why
call them Jewish Americans?
End of rambling...We can agree to
disagree. I’m fine with that.
